The technology of TN+FILM is to add a wide Angle compensation FILM on the original basis. This compensation film can increase the visual Angle to about 150 degrees, is a simple method, a lot of applications in liquid crystal display. However, this technology does not improve the performance such as contrast and response time. TN+FILM may not be the best solution for manufacturers, but it is the cheapest solution, so most Taiwanese manufacturers use this method to build 15-inch LCD displays.
IPS(in-plane SWITCHING) technology, which claims to allow a greater visibility of 170 degrees up and down, left and right. The IPS technology increases the viewing Angle, but using two electrodes to drive the liquid crystal molecules consumes more power, which makes the display more power-hungry.What’s more, this way drives the response time of liquid crystal molecules more slowly.
MVA(multi-domain VERTICAL alignMENT) technique, in which protrusions are added to form multiple visible regions.Liquid crystal molecules do not align completely vertically when they are at rest. Instead, they align horizontally when a voltage is applied, allowing light to pass through the layers.MVA technology increases the visual Angle to more than 160 degrees and provides shorter response times than IPS and TN+FILM.
